Because I Don’t Believe Pantene Pro-V… November 5, 2009

Y’all. You know when I start out a post with “y’all” I’m in desperate need of help. And I am. Oh I am. As much as I’m liking my new hair cut (the answer was three to all of you guessing), I’m still having problems with my shampoo. See, I have been cursed blessed with the Petrey Scalp. No, this is not some sort of medical condition, rather it is just a hereditary condition that has been passed down through the ages of time.

My grandmother and father have it, and gave it to me. We are all blessed to have a scalp that produces mass amounts of, how shall I put this, OIL. Sorry, I tried but there is no getting around it; we have oil in abundance. I can’t go every other day washing my hair, oh no sirree-bob, I have to wash it EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. It’s a joy that brings delight and wonder to my heart.

The problem is that I have to be careful as to what type of shampoo I use. If I use something to heavy, my hair looks oily. If I use something too light, my hair looks dirty. If I don’t use enough product, my hair looks oily and dirty. Again, it is a joy that brings delight and wonder to my heart. Right now, I’m using Aussie Super Clean shampoo because I love all Aussie products, the purple bottle has been known to send me into a happy dance. However, this purple bottle does not send me into the happy dance, rather it sends me into the mourning, gnashing of teeth, and wailing dance. It simply does not clean my hair effectively enough. By the end of the day all the body and shine I once had is gone, gone like the wind. Instead, it is replaced with dull, lifeless locks of doom.

Here is where you, my faithful reader and help in great time of distress, come in. What shampoo do you use? What works for you? What do you recommend to help me in my situation?

So, let’s have it.

The Writing on the Wall November 2, 2009

Last night all of Drew’s family came up to eat and watch football with us. I wasn’t feeling so great, so I stayed on the couch most of the evening. After everyone left, I came into the office to check my e-mail. As I was walking out of the office something caught my attention…

Evie had drawn, and taped the pictures onto our wall. And they are still there. Why? Because she’s growing up waaaayyyy to fast, and I don’t want to forget this time.

Because before I know it, there won’t be anymore writing on the wall…

It’s Miss Mollycake Time! October 28, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — mollyepetrey @ 3:25 am

Remember last week when I reffered to “Miss Pattycake”, the Christian children’s singer, that was overly joyful! and jubilant! ? Well, I have decided that Miss PC makes quite a nice little profit on her videos, and I wanted my piece of the pie cake as well. So I have decided to start making my own videos under the name of

MISS MOLLYCAKE!!!

Hooray! Huzzah! HoHo! HeeHee! Hurray! HaHa! HooHoo! HawHaw!

Last night was my debut performance, I tested it out on Ruthie and LeeAnne. Ruthie told me I was crazy, and LeeAnne started crying. But in typical Miss Mollycake fashion,  I set out to turn her frown upside down! (it didn’t work), and started skipping around the house! That’s when Dustin started to get frightened.

See, we were carving pumpkins, Dustin was holding a sharp object, and I was skipping around the house, and LeeAnne was crying. It was enough to make a three ring circus look calm and peaceful.

I think the expression on LeeAnne’s face explains it all.

Once the pumpkin was carved, I explained to the children that God has placed His light in us to illuminate to the world His love:

See, Miss Mollycake is illuminating!

After my show, all of my adoring fans wanted their pictures with me:

And then they went about their normal activities.

And thus, my career as a children’s musical performer was ended. It was fun while it lasted.

Molly + Thunderstix = A Very Fun Time October 27, 2009

Football 2009 048These are the Thunderstix I was given at the game this past weekend. They made me very happy, very happy indeed. So happy that they were threatened to be taken away from me, that’s how happy they made me. Oh, Thunderstix, how I heart thee…

The game on Saturday is still running through my mind, because we played so well. I was so proud of my Apps, quite possibly the best game so far this season! Can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out…

We arrived at our parking spots around 11:00, and ate around 12:00. The weather was gorgeous the first part of our tailgate, however, it turned for the, um, colder by 1:00. I was freezing…and seeing how I didn’t bring anything but a fleece vest, I did the best I could:

I borrowed my grandmother’s coat. Yes, it is purple. Yes, those are Furman colors. No, I am not a Furman fan. But, the coat kept me extremely warm, and for that I am eternally grateful. It did make me a little sad that I didn’t have a black coat, though. It would have matched the rest of my outfit perfectly, right down to my fingernails!

Football 2009 044

That is Appalachian Dedication, my friends. Either that, or pure craziness, you be the judge. In the end, we came out with the big win (52-16!!!), and it was GREAT TO BE A MOUNTAINEER!!!

Let’s Go On a Hayride! October 21, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — mollyepetrey @ 7:31 pm

I just realized that the title of this post sounds like something you would find on the cover of a Miss Pattycake DVD, this is a sad fact. Because if Miss Pattycake was on the hayride, we would have sung five million songs about how “Man counts the seeds in an apple, but God counts the apples in the seed”, and how Christians are like pumpkins, and such. Then we would have had to dance, and wave our hands in the air, and skip through the cornfields while looking for scarecrows, while she reminded us to SIIIINNNNGGGGG!! I’m getting nauseous just thinking about it. I’ve never liked Miss Cake, probably never will. (And now for punishment, I’m probably going to have to go and sit through one of her TWO HOUR shows.)

Anyway, I went on a hayride yesterday with the “Home-Preschool” group! I loved Preschool as a kid, actually, some of my fondest childhood memories are of  being at Preschool with Miss Simms. And since I love preschool, I decided to go hang out with the highly educated (seriously, I did not know half the things they do, when I was their age) preschoolers. Which totally made my day, as I got to hang out with two, three, and four year olds, and go to an apple orchard!! It was almost too much for my fall-loving heart to take.

And do you know what we did while there?? Do you? Do you? We got to go on a  HAYRIDE!!! Well, except there wasn’t any hay, so technically it was a “tractor ride”. But still, I was on a trailer, being pulled by a tractor!! Be still my beating heart. It set my insides to quivering, but do you know the best part? A little three year old boy wanted to hold my hand!! That just about sent me over the edge, I mean sure I could be going on a hayride with Mr. Right and hold his hand, but that can come later! A three year old wanted to hold my hand!!! And he held it the entire way, I think my heart just exploded from adorable combustion.

After the hayride, we headed to the, wait for it, PUMPKIN PATCH!!! Oh my! I was ready to start singing the hallelujah chorus right there. As the kids picked out their pumpkins, I was snapping away on my camera to document this important occasion.  The aforementioned pictures will be shown on a later date, as I have to edit and save them before posting them.

And to send me into an utter and complete state of happiness, they gave us a bag of apples! FROM THEIR ORCHARD!!! It was truly more than my fall-loving heart could handle…I almost wept tears of sweet happiness and joy. The only thing that could have made it better was to have had some apple cider, but the probably would have sent me into a happy-induced coma…it’s better it wasn’t there.

So how about you? What are some of your favorite fall activities?

“And I’m going to name her JUDY!!!” October 19, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — mollyepetrey @ 5:34 pm

The above quote is brought to you by Ruthie. According to Ruthie, the newest member of the Petrey Family will be a girl, and her name will be Judy Petrey. Which totally cracks me up, because everyone knows that Judy is on the top 10 list for girl names in 2010. But, hey if her name is Judy I can at least call her Ju-Ju! What do you think Daphne? I think it has a nice ring to it…

And This One Makes Seven… October 17, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — mollyepetrey @ 3:13 am

Hello, Bloggy Friends!!! I have some very exciting news! I found out tonight that I am going to have a new niece or nephew in June! I’ll write more about this later, but I do ask that you pray for this little baby, and mother. We are all so excited, and we can’t wait to meet him or her!!

Just Around the Corner October 15, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — mollyepetrey @ 7:21 pm

Two things that I would like to bring to your attention, friends!! First, I hope you are having a splendid Thursday! Aren’t Thursdays great? I mean the day after Thursday is Friday, and we all know how I feel about Fridays. It’s raining up here in my little corner of the world. But it doesn’t bother me, as I love, love, love rain and chilly weather!! The leaves are changing as well. I’m really hoping to get some pictures before they’re all gone, but with the rain it is proving hard to do so. Hopefully on Sunday!

Alright, on to the two things, or it could turn into three or four things. You never know with me.

1. My mom is starting her career as a fashion model tonight. Yes, my mom is a model. And this will most likely be her first and only gig. Our local Belk’s is hosting a “Fall Glamour”  fashion show, and many local women of the High Country have been asked to participate. My mother was one who was asked, and I’m looking forward to watching her. I’ve been coaching her some, not that I have any experience, I just like to think that I would have made it in the fashion industry. Of course since I have stumps instead of limbs for legs (thank you, Mamaw Petrey, and Father Winston Petrey), I probably never would have made it. Oh well. Can’t win at everything in life.

I’m taking my camera tonight, so I’ll make sure and report back to you the happenings that went on at the fashion show…it’s sure to be a grand time!

2. I am working on something very, very special, and I cannot wait to show it to you!

3. The jury is still out on the argyle tights. We are taking a weekend to ponder and pray. I will give you a full report on Monday. There might even be some fasting involved, this is a tough decision.

4. My brother Dustin, an icredibly talented writer, who learned everything he knows from me (ha!), has just started a new blog that is amazing. Go here if you want to be challenged, enlightened, and provoked in your thoughts. Keep coming to this site if you want to be fed useless, senseless, un-thought provoking, yet very fun material!

Well, it turned into four, sorry, but when I start talking I can’t stop. It’s a sickness, somebody send help, immediately!

Well, now I do hope you all have a great Thursday…
